South American Adventure 2016 is ending today!

SOUTH AMERICAN ADVENTURE 2016 is ending today! After 30 days traveling through the south of Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Peru, students are returning home! This trip was a big adventure and challenge for sure and we would like to thank all students, parents, host parents, Officers and Chairmen for all the support, as well as our Coordination, Chaperones, bus drivers, guides and suppliers for all the hard work! Thank you all and see you in 10 days at Amazon! Let's go?!

AVENTURA SUL-AMERICANA 2016 termina hoje! Após 30 dias viajando pelo sul do Brasil, Argentina, Chile e Peru, os intercambistas estão voltando para casa! Essa viagem foi uma grande aventura e com certeza um desafio, por isso gostaríamos de agradecer todos os intercambistas, pais, pais anfitriões, Oficias de Intercâmbio e Chairmen pelo apoio, como também nossa Coordenação, Chaperones, motoristas, guias e fornecedores por todo o trabalho duro! #MachuPicchu!

We finally have arrived at Machu Picchu!

The group arrived at Aguas Calientes by train yesterday night. After a nice overnight, we all woke up early and went up to the ruins of Machu Picchu to watch the beautiful sunrise!

After one day of new discoveries about the Inca civilization and many photos, we went down! Ahed this afternoon, termal baths at the Thermal Pools of Aguas Calientes!

Tomorrow it's the start of our return to Cusco and return home! Keep tuned!

Finalmente chegamos a Machu Picchu!

O grupo chegou a Aguas Calientes de trem ontem à noite. Após uma confortável pernoite, todos acordaram cedo para se dirigir às ruínas de Machu Picchu para ver o belo nascer do sol!

Após um dia de um novas descobertas sobre a civilização Inca e muitas fotos, todos descemos! Ainda nessa tarde, teremos os banhos termais nas piscinas termais de Aguas Calientes!

Amanhã começa o retorno da viagem de Cusco para casa! Fiquem ligados!

 

Going to Machu Picchu!

South American Adventure is still on! After some amazing days at Atacama desert, the group crossed the border to Peru, visiting the historical city of Cusco.

We're now taking a train to the city of Aguas Calientes for an overnight! Tomorrow, early morning, we go up to Machu Picchu ruins to watch a beautiful sunset and discovers the mysteries and stories of the Inca empire!

We spent the day on the road between Mendoza and Santiago, this path is beautiful and goes through the Andes! It was amazing! All were amazed with so many wonderful scenery.
On the way we stopped at a Inca bridge, is actually a bathhouse that was built for this amazing civilization. Our other stop was at a place where we could enjoy the view of Aconcagua!
The border between Argentina and Chile is very demanding but we passed without problems and finally arrived in Chile! Ron’s homeland (World's Best Coordinator!); he is very excited and we are all happy for him (the problem is that now he doesn’t stop talking, hahaha ....)!
In Chile we stopped at a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. After arriving in Santiago we went to a shopping to have dinner and then we arrived at our hotel which is actually a really nice hostel. We are excited for tomorrow and to know better Santiago!

Passamos o dia percorrendo o caminho entre Mendoza e Santiago; este caminho é lindo e passa pelos Andes! Foi incrível! Todos ficamos maravilhados com tantas paisagens lindas.
No caminho paramos em uma ponte Inca, na verdade é uma casa de banhos que foi construída por esta incrível civilização. Nossa outra parada foi em um local onde pudemos apreciar o Aconcágua!
A fronteira entre a Argentina e o Chile é bem exigente porém passamos sem problemas e enfim chegamos ao Chile! Terra natal do Ron (melhor Coordenador do mundo!); ele está muito emocionado e estamos todos felizes por ele (o problema é que agora ele não fica quieto, hahaha....)!
Já no Chile paramos em um lindo lago cercado pelas montanhas. Após chegar em Santiago fomos a um shopping jantar e em seguida chegamos em nosso hotel que é na verdade um albergue (hostel)muito legal. Estamos animados para o dia de amanhã e para conhecer melhor Santiago!

Mendoza!

Hey Everyone!

 

Yesterday, after a strenuous day of travel, we arrived in the Mendoza province and its capital of the same name. The region is most known for its famous Malbec wines, and though we weren´t able to try even a bit, one can see the importance of the beverage to the city.
We spent today sightseeing the town in the bus, disembarking with our guide to see the Jesuit ruins. From there, we went to the center where we had free time to eat lunch in the restuarants surrounding the Plaza de la Independencia. The area is a mix of tourist shops and cafes full of both foreigners and locals.
We met up after lunch to go to the Parque General San Martin, where we decided to take a hike. The hike, strenuous for some, took us to the top of the hill giving panoramic views of the city. At the summit, there was a monument depicting General San Martin leading an army on an equally strenuous trek across the Andes.
Upon return, we went to the supermarket where we stocked up for the next strenuous journey. Tomorrow, we wake up to go to Chile, the native country of our beloved Coordinator, Ron! We anxiously await the next chapter of our trip.

Hola a Todos!

Ayer llegamos a la provincia de Mendoza y su capital del mismo nombre despues un dia muy largo de viaje. La region es mas conocida por el famoso vino Malbec, y aunque no pudimos probar ni una copita, se nota la importancia de la bebida a la ciudad.
Hoy pasamos el dia recorriendo el pueblo en colectivo y de pie. Bajamos al lado de las ruinas jesuiticas y nuestra guia nos explico la historia de la iglesia destruida. De alli, nos fuimos al centro donde teniamos tiempo libre para almorzar en los restaurantes alrededor de la Plaza de la Independencia. La zona es una mezcla de tiendas turisticas y cafes llenos de extranjeros tanto como Mendocinos.
Nos reunimos despues de almuerzo para ir a el Parque General San Martin. Subimos un cerro dedicado al general. Encima del cerro, habia un monumento mostrando el ejercito argentino encargado por San Martin traversando los Andes.
Despues de bajar el cerro, nos fuimos al super para comprar comida para el proximo viaje largo. Manana, nos despertamos temprano para ir a Chile, el pais nativo de nuestro querido Coordinador Ron! Esperamos ansiosamente el siguente capitulo de nuestro viaje.

Buenos Aires: "Paris in South America"

Hello Guys!

Our second day in Buenos Aires was really good; during the morning we visited de Colon Theater, an opera house really big and pretty and with a lot of luxuries, impressive; it was sooo European! After that we visited the Obelisco and took tons of pics, then we went to the Recoleta area and some of us had lunch in the Hard Rock Cafe.
After lunch we visited the Palermo park and the Recoleta cementery. There we visited the famous Eva Peron's grave.
Then we went to Puerto Madero and the modern part of Buenos Aires; everything so nice and pretty, some said that it looked like London; where the old arquitecture gets mixture with modern arquitecture. Later we went for pizza.
Some exchange students joined us today and some are leaving tomorrow, our group is going to change, but we always stay happy.

Now to bed, tomorrow we go to Mendoza!

Hola Chicos!
Nuestro segundo dia en Buenos Aires fue muy bueno, en la mañana visitamos el Teatro Colon, una casa de opera muy linda y grande, y tambien muy lujosa, impresionante, era muy europea, despues todos juntos fuimos para el Obelisco y sacamos muchas fotos. Despues fuimos al barrio Recoleta y varios comimos en el Hard Rock Cafe de Buenos Aires.
Luego visitamos el parque Palermo, muy bonito todo, muchas personas haciendo deporte, lagunas y muchos patos. Tambien conocimos el cementerio de la Recoleta y a la tumba de la famosa Evita Peron.
Despues visitamos Puerto Madero, la parte moderna de Buenos Aires, todo muy lindo y moderno, a varios les recordo a Londres, donde las construcciones antiguas se mezclan con las modernas. Mas tarde cenamos Pizza y comimos mucho.
Hoy tambien llegaron nuevos intercambistas y maãna se van otros, nuestro grupo va a cambiar un poco pero siempre felices.

Buenos Aires...TANGO!

Hey Everyone!

Today was a great day, during the morning we visited the Florida and Lavalle street, tipycal Buenos Aires streets, after we separeted ourselves in small groups and visited different places of the Argentinian capital, we knew some really nice places.
After lunch we met in the hotel and started to visit the south region of Buenos Aires, first we went to the Plaza de Mayo, where our local guide and our coordinator Ron told us some stories about the Malvinas war, and some really sad stories about the dictatorship in Argentina; it was so interesting because we learned a lot of things we didn't know. We saw the Casa Rosada and the cathedral, they were really prety. Then we went to San Telmo and took some pictures with Mafalda, after we went to La Boca and visited the Boca Juniors Stadium and the street Caminito with a lot interesting things, like people dancing tango on the street, colourful houses that were so pretty. On the bus we traveled around the city and a lot of our European friends felt like at home because of the arquitecture, that reminded them of Europe. Buenos Aires is known as the "Latin American Paris".
Then we went back to the hotel and went to our dinner tango show and it was just AWWSOME! The food was great but the show was magical.The music was great and the dancers were unreal, everybody loved it and we ended up wanting to lear how to dance tango. During the show they also played Andean music, a preview of what is about to come.

Olá Pessoal!

Hoje foi um dia muito legal! De manhã passeamos pela rua Florida e Lavalle, típicas ruas do centro de Buenos Aires, onde nos separamos em grupos menores e cada grupo visitou diferentes lugares da capital Argentina. Conhecemos muitas coisas bem legais e compramos muitas lembrancinhas, além de alfajores e doce de leite.
A tarde nos encontramos no hotel e saímos para percorrer a região sul de Buenos Aires; fomos a Praça de Maio, onde o guia e o nosso Coordenador nos contaram histórias bem tristes da época da ditadura Argentina; foi muito interessante pois aprendemos coisas que não sabíamos. Vimos a Casa Rosada, a catedral e os arredores da praça; depois conhecemos o bairro de San Telmo e tiramos fotos com a Mafalda e logo depois fomos para o bairro de La Boca, visitamos o estádio do Boca Juniors e o setor do Caminito, com muitas coisas bem legais: pessoas dançando tango na rua e casas muito coloridas e bonitinhas; todo mundo adorou! No ônibus passeamos por ruas muito bonitas e os Europeus se sentiram em casa pois a arquitetura da cidade lembra muito a de algumas cidades Europeias; Buenos Aires é conhecida como a "Paris da América Latina".
Depois voltamos para o hotel e logo saímos para o nosso jantar com show de tango e foi... MARAVILHOSO! A comida foi muito boa mas o show foi mágico; a música era linda e os dançarinos eram muito bons; ficamos muito empolgados e todo mundo ficou com vontade de aprender a dançar tango; no show também tocaram música andina, um preview do que irá continuar na viagem.

Obrigado ao pessoal da Terra Brasil (O Ron sempre fala como vocês são importantes) e a Coordenação pelo dia lindo que vivemos!

Montevideo / Colonia de Sacramento / Buenos Aires

Hi friends!

After breakfast we went to Colonia de Sacramento, one of the oldest cities in Uruguay, after a 3-hour ride (nap), we arrived for lunch time so we went to eat something. After lunch we walked the historical city and learned more about the Uruguaian and Southamerican history. At 4:30pm we were in the ferry to cross the La Plata river. On it we watched the Barcelona game while the girls went shopping chocolates in the duty free. After an hour we finally made it to Buenos Aires! A while after our check in we went out for dinner; we had am awesome Argentinian Parrillada. Now we are going to sleep, tomorrow we will have a long day visiting the city. Gnite!

Hola amigos!
Hoy despues del desayuno salimos hacia Colonia de Sacramento, una de las ciudades mas antiguas de Uruguay, llegamos allá a la hora de almuerzo, asi que comimos y salimos a recorrer el centro antiguo de Colonia y aprendimos un poco de la historia del lugar. A las 5 salimos en un barco y cruzamos el Rio de la Plata. Arriba del barco vimos el partido del Barcelona y las chicas compraron chocolates en el duty free, despues de una hora de viaje finalmente llegamos a Buenos Aires! Llegamos al hotel y poco tiempo despues salimos para comer una rica Parrillada Argentina. Ahora a descansar porque mañana vamosa recorrer la ciudad. Buenas noches!

Montevideo

Hi People!

Today, after a very good Uruguaian breakfast, we headed out for a city walk in Montevideo, capital of Uruguay and Mercosur. WE walked under a light rain and visited historical plazas, buildings and endeded up in a rooftop enjoying the view of the city. After we jumped back in our bus and headed to the market for lunch and souvenirs.
Afterwards we were supose to visit a park but the rain got heavier and it was impossible, so we headed back to the hotel and some of us went out to visit downtown to buy more alfajores. At the end of the day we walked to our restaurant and enjoyed a gorgous dinner, mostly all of us had more meat... Uruguay is not a place for vegeterians lol!

Oi Pessoal!

Neste dia, depois de um delicioso café da manhã, saímos para percorrer a cidade de Montevidéu, a capital do Uruguai e do Mercosul. Saímos andando com um pouco de chuva e conhecemos o centro histórico da cidade, visitamos praças, prédios antigos e um maravilhoso mirante onde dava para ver a cidade toda!
Mais tarde voltamos para o nosso hotel e saímos de ônibus até o mercado onde comemos e compramos lembrancinhas; logo depois era para visitarmos um parque na cidade, mas não conseguimos por causa da chuva que ficou mais e mais forte e tivemos que voltar para o hotel. Tivemos um tempo livre e alguns de nós aproveitamos para sair e conhecer mais o centro da cidade e comprar alfajores. No final do dia saímos andando para o nosso restaurante e tivemos um jantar maravilhoso; a maioria comeu carne... Uruguai não é um lugar para vegetarianos rsrsrs!

Punta del Este / Montevideo

Hola! Hoy llegammos a Montevideo a medio media de ahi llegamos al hotel para dejar nuestras maletas y después salimos a la calle uruguaya a comer en un restaurante de carne de Uruguay una de las majores carnes que tiene Latino América. Después tuvimos que arreglarnos para ir al city tour en la ciudad de Montevideo para conocer los patrimonios culturales de la ciudad, calles de la ciudad, museos, barrios importantes entre otras cosas y al final del día fuimos nos llevaron al shopping a merendar conocer. Y después de eso nos llevaron al hotel para descansar y prepararnos para la siguiente aventura.

Oi! Hoje chegamos em Montevidéu - ao meio dia chegamos ao hotel para deixar nossas malas e depois saímos para a Rua Uruguaya para comer no restaurante de carne Uruguaia uma das melhores carnes da América Latina. Depois nos arrumamos para um city tour pela cidade de Montevidéu onde conhecemos os patrimônios culturais, as ruas da cidade, museus e bairros importantes entre outras coisas; e ao final do dia fomos ao shopping para jantar. Depois disso os monitores nos levaram para o hotel, onde aguardamos a próxima aventura amanhã.

+ Punta del Este

Today we discovered the city of Punta del Este; we were in the morning touring the Playa Los Ingleses and visited a beautiful hand sculpture (one of three existing in the world, made ​​by a Chilean artist - one is in Chile and the other in Venice). Then it was free time and we took the opportunity to buy souvenirs and have fun in the city, which is beautiful!
In the afternoon we make a city tour and met a lot of cultural things, like the Rally museum, everyone loved their artwork . And after visiting the most beautiful places in the city we had the opportunity to watch the exciting sunset in Casapueblo, where we participated in the ceremony reverence of the sun with a beautiful poem by Carlos Paez Vilaró, the artist who created the house and made possible this amazing experience.

Hoje nós conhecemos a cidade de Punta del Este; fomos pela manhã passear pela orla da Praia de Los Ingleses e visitamos uma bela escultura de mão que é uma dentre três existentes no mundo, feitas por um artista Chileno (uma está no Chile e a outra em Veneza). Depois foi tempo livre e aproveitamos para comprar lembrancinhas e nos divertir pela cidade, que é linda!
De tarde fomos fazer um city tour e conhecemos muitas coisas culturais, como o museu Rally; todos adoraram suas obras de arte. E depois de visitar os pontos mais belos da cidade tivemos a oportunidade de assistir ao emocionante pôr do sol na Casapueblo, onde participamos da cerimônia que reverencia o sol com um belo poema de Carlos Paez Vilaró, artista que criou a casa e tornou possível essa experiência marcante.

Hello, we are in Uruguay! Our group left before dawn towards the extreme south of Brazil! After a very good breakfast spent time resting on our bus that is extremely comfortable; we spent time playing cards and talking! In the afternoon we crossed the border and our lunch was between the two countries, very cool!

We arrived in Punta del Este and had a dinner with pizza, then spent time in the city and enjoyed the night in this place - so beautiful!

01/04/16 - Punta del Este!

Olá, estamos no Uruguai! Nosso grupo saiu antes do sol nascer rumo ao extremo sul do Brasil! Após um café da manhã muito bom passamos um tempo descansando em nosso ônibus que é extremamente confortável, passamos o tempo jogando cartas e conversando! De tarde cruzamos a fronteira e nosso almoço foi entre os dois países, muito legal!

Ao chegar em Punta del Este tivemos um jantar com pizza e depois passamos tempo na cidade e aproveitamos a noite de sexta-feira neste lugar que é lindo!
